SUWA
TCONSTRUVTION OF
THE LINKS

This diamond line necklace was created by expertly soldering each link to the next in a manner that is similar to people standing together with their elbows interlocked. The method of connecting the links is very precise, making it necessary for the same artisan to complete the entire necklace. The links of the central two-thirds of the necklace are connected at the top, as shown in the bottom photograph, and they are connected in a way that allows the bottom edges of the links to open horizontally. On the other hand, the links at the ends of the necklace are connected in a straight line, as shown in the top photograph, and move in a different direction. The construction has been thought out to allow the necklace to lie smoothly along the lines of a woman’s neck.

Because the shape and size of each person’s neck is different, the necklace will not sit properly unless its length is just right. If the necklace feels uncomfortable, it needs to have its length adjusted.

If possible, a diamond line necklace that is 42 centimeters long (16 1/2 inches) should have a total of at least seven carats of diamonds. At that length, each link would be too small if the total weight of the diamonds were less than five carats, increasing the chances of the necklace turning over while it is being worn.
