Because most tsavorites
tend to be small compared to
other colored stones, highly
brilliant gem-quality stones
are recommended. The optimum
tone level will vary depending
on the gemstone's size, as
well as the style of jewelry
and the stone setting method.
A tone level of 3 with a beauty
grade of S or A is also recommended
for use in jewelry. Tone level
7 is most appreciated by gemstone
collectors who enjoy loose
stones, and is probably best
avoided in jewelry. At that
tone level, a stone will have
a rich beauty under strong
lighting, but appear black
under weak light.
The value of a one-carat-size
tsavorite of jewelry quality
is approximately US $ 1,000
for the stone alone.
